Individual counselling

I work with issues and challenges arising from significant life events and changes. These include issues such as loss of meaning, anxiety, stress, depression, anger, relationship difficulties and issues of self-esteem and self-worth. I help clients deal with difficult family relationships, partnership tensions and break-ups, personal difficulties in finding a more ‘stable’ life, and the conflicts and anxieties that accompany these challenges.

In our sessions, I’ll offer a secure and private space where you can bring forward challenging thoughts and emotions, free from judgment. By safely shining a light on these inner experiences, we work towards easing tensions and clarifying what really matters to you.

I work in accordance with the UKCP Code of Ethics and under the supervision of experienced colleagues.

Existential Psychotherapy
In an existential approach, the focus is on understanding your personal situation as it stands, and on discovering, from within yourself, what you truly want moving forward. Rather than labelling, diagnosing, or categorising, it’s about deepening your self-awareness and opening up pathways that feel genuine and alive—especially if your life currently seems stuck or without clear direction.

Depression
To move towards the life and self you want, it’s vital to recognise and honour your deepest moods and feelings. By tuning into how you’re experiencing the world—how it already is and how it needs to be different—you begin to understand the conflicts that keep you feeling low. This understanding can be the starting point for meaningful change.

Addiction

Facing addiction starts with acknowledging that something feels out of control. Reaching out for help is an important and courageous step. Working together in individual therapy—possibly alongside other supportive resources—can help restore a sense of agency and guide you toward healthier ways of living.

Relationship Counselling
When working with couples, my priority is to create a space where both partners can gain a clearer view of their shared dynamic. By fostering more honest and effective communication, we can uncover the deeper patterns shaping your connection, enabling both of you to decide on the best way forward with greater insight and mutual understanding.

Stress
Managing stress begins with recognising what can and can’t be changed in your circumstances. This clarity lays the groundwork for navigating life’s pressures in ways that feel more balanced and manageable.

Anxiety
Anxiety doesn’t have to be simply a burden—it can be a sign of what matters to you and where you want to go. Rather than being overwhelmed by it, we’ll aim to understand and channel it so that it enlivens your experience and supports your growth.

Angry Outbursts
Like all emotions, anger points to what is important to you. Learning to engage with it thoughtfully, rather than pushing it away or letting it take over, helps you recognise and affirm what truly matters—without getting stuck in patterns that harm yourself or others.

Preliminary session

I offer a complimentary 15-20 minute phone or online consultation for you to determine if you would like to work with me and for me to gain a better understanding of your reasons for seeking assistance and how I can help you. Please reach out to schedule a mutually suitable time for this initial meeting.

During our first session I will get to know your situation and this will be an opportunity for you to understand and get a feel for whether you are comfortable working with me and my approach.

We will discuss the issues that have brought you to me and how we can explore them together, as well as my confidentiality policy, fees, appointment times and absences.
